Why are these folks smiling? We’ll attribute the carefree expressions to a photo shoot gone well. On the other hand, it’s hard not to grin when one is hard at work relaxing in Kauai.
Mark Arbeit (the handsome one, at right in the top pic) photographed the perenially dashing Pierce Brosnan at the Hawaii residence Brosnan and his wife Keely share, for the current issue of Hi Luxury magazine.
Arbeit shares the outtakes above, along with the inside scoop we’d suspected all along:  ”Pierce was a very cool to work with, generous, lots of energy, down to earth.”

Daniele Forsythe photographer Mark Arbeit sent us a few playful pics from his recently opened exhibition in Cologne.

Art Daily"His series of meticulously designed Polaroid-montages, which he started in the early 1990s and continues to this day, is this time accompanied by as yet unpublished work: Life-size photograms, intricately created with female models during an ‚artist-in-residence‘ arrangement in a photo studio in Brussels, Belgium. Both series outline an interesting interpretation of nude photography."

The show is up through May 29. Visit Kaune, Sudendorf for more info.
VIDEO: Photographer Mark Arbeit On Mentor Helmut Newton
In an excerpt from the new short Three Boys from Pasadena, Mark Arbeit, George Holz and Just Loomis pay tribute to legendary fashion photographer Helmut Newton. Three Boys from Pasadena is at the Williamson Gallery of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, until 26 August. Via Nowness:

"Boldly approaching Newton in 1979 after getting a tip that he would be dropping into a Pasadena boutique, the three young art students and aspiring photographers were taken on as his assistants. It was the beginning a professional and personal relationship that would last up until Newton’s death in 2004.
Mixing archive footage with Arbeit, Holz and Loomis’s recollections of working with the provocative lensman, Three Boys from Pasadena accompanies an exhibition at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Originally hung at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin in 2009, the show features memorabilia and Polaroids documenting the trio’s years working with Newton alongside a retrospective of their subsequent photographic careers.”
